Envision is pleased to announce the execution of the first work order under the MSA and has commenced design and deployment of a 300kW Park Solar project in Arizona, which will be completed in the third quarter of this year.

Under the terms of the MSA, Envision will be responsible for the solar master planning, design and development of solar projects. In addition, it will supply its ParkSolar℠ designs using Solar Tree® and Solar Grove® products, as well as CleanCharge™ and EnvisionTrak™ technology to enhance energy yield and reduce total cost of ownership for the project.

Jim Laehy, Director Business Development of Morrow-Meadows, added “Envision Solar brings world-class architectural and renewable energy project planning skills, in addition to a depth of understanding in the design and development of solar projects and some exceptional proprietary products. We expect that this will be invaluable to our collective effort under this MSA to expand our solar project pipeline and deployment over the next several years and see Envision’s expertise in the industry as a tremendous benefit to our own offering.”

Envision Solar Launches Solar Grove® and CleanCharge™
Initiative for Quick Service Restaurants
Integrated solar technology system brings shade and clean energy to restaurant parking lots

SAN DIEGO (June 3, 2010) – Envision Solar International, Inc., (www.envisionsolar.com) (OTC BB:EVSI), a leading solar planner, architect and inventor designing and deploying clean energy systems globally, announces the launch of its Quick Service Restaurant (QSRs) initiative featuring Solar Groves® solar parking arrays and CleanCharge™ solar charging stations for parking lots. CleanCharge is the first initiative to bring shade, clean solar energy and electric vehicle charging stations to QSR parking lots.

The Envision Solar CleanCharge vehicle charging system provides restaurants with a Solar Grove, − an array of Solar Trees® − equipped with an electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle charging station. The Solar Trees provide shade for diners’ vehicles, while simultaneously allowing the restaurant to offset some of its energy usage through the grid-connected solar system. The CleanCharge solar-to-electric vehicle charging station also allows customers to recharge plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles while they dine.

Envision Solar has established partnerships with a number of financing companies to provide power purchase agreements for QSRs, which allows them to implement Solar Groves and CleanCharge stations with no initial financial cost. The restaurants can then purchase electricity provided at a known rate schedule for as much as 20 years in some cases.

“With the launch of CleanCharge, it is now easy for restaurant owners to transform a parking lot into a clean electrical generator while keeping vehicles cool and shaded,” said Bob Noble, CEO of Envision Solar. “Our company has a long history of innovation and a reputation for working with customers to deliver superior renewable energy systems that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. We hope our QSR initiative will inspire restaurant owners to take advantage of this unique opportunity to help the environment, provide a useful service to customers, demonstrate their commitment to sustainability, and continue the effort to integrate renewable energy resources into everyday living.”

Envision Solar has developed alliances with partners who provide key products and services to assure best-in-class Solar Groves® at each restaurant location. Photovoltaic manufacturer Astronergy, a division of Chint Group, Noveda Technologies and ChargePoint® Networked Charging Station manufacturer Coulomb Technologies have joined Envision as primary alliance partners in its QSR initiative.

The company is led by Stephen E. Morgan, formerly CEO and Chairman of the Board at Jersey Central Power and Light, the second largest electric utility in the state of New Jersey.

“With sustainability being a key feature of many commercial, industrial and educational development projects, the need for organizations to have access to clean energy is paramount,” said Bob Noble, CEO of Envision Solar. “This partnership will open that door to a new wave of forward-thinking companies who will be able to secure their future energy needs in a cost-effective and easily-managed fashion. We look forward to this partnership bringing solar energy to a new generation of customers.”

“American Clean Energy’s vision is to bring affordable clean energy to companies who are looking to reduce their carbon footprint while controlling cash flow,” said Steve Morgan, CEO of American Clean Energy. “Envision Solar is the ideal partner for us because they have a proven track record of delivering the beautiful installations with cutting-edge technology that our customers are craving.”

Envision Solar Joins Bright Automotive to Unveil Revolutionary Automotive,
Solar-to-Electric Vehicle Charging Technologies on Capitol Hill
Earth Day Event Features Solar-Powered Infrastructure to Charge Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles

Washington, D.C. – April 21, 2009 – Envision Solar International, Inc., a leading force in solar integrated building systems technology, joined Bright Automotive to announce the nation’s first CleanCharge™/Solar Tree® Charging Station today. Bright Automotive unveiled its new hybrid electric vehicle called “IDEA” on Capitol Hill during a special Earth Day event. The revolutionary IDEA vehicle and Envision Solar’s CleanCharge will change the way Americans view the relationship between future transportation and clean energy.

Led by a group of visionary architects, builders and engineers, Envision Solar transforms heat-absorbing parking areas into beautiful, efficient solar power plants. Bright Automotive chose Envision Solar as its “solar-to-plug” partner because of their success and experience in designing and installing aesthetically superior Solar Integrated Building Systems (SIBS™).

Envision Solar and its CleanCharge™ Initiative partners, including Coulomb Technologies and Axion Power International (OTC Bulletin Board: AXPW), will engineer and implement nationwide the new CleanCharge™ solar charging stations, initially designed for Bright Automotive’s new fleet of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. By partnering with experts like Coulomb and Axion, the CleanCharge™ systems will be versatile enough to be installed to charge small electric vehicles or plug-in-hybrids, or for large-scale fleet projects. Bright Automotive plans to begin high-volume production of the revolutionary plug-in hybrid electric vehicle by the end of 2012.

“The future of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles has arrived, and we are thrilled to be Bright’s solar partner of choice,” said Envision Solar’s CEO and Founder, Robert Noble. “Our experience in solar innovation has allowed Envision Solar to lead the market in the development of solar charging stations.”

Envision Solar CEO and Founder Robert Noble explained at today’s event how the charging system harnesses the power of the sun to charge vehicles. The CleanCharge™ System includes: the parking shade structure known as the Solar Tree, solar photovoltaic modules, inverters, battery backup, Coulomb’s ChargePoint™ Networked Charging Station and Smart Meter technology. Photovoltaic modules have become icons of sustainability in much the same way that trees are icons of nature. The founders of Envision Solar have employed the principles of bio-mimicry to unite nature with clean energy in the new icon of the Solar Tree.

Envision Solar and its technology partners are working together to enable the infrastructure of Envison’s SolarTree® charging stations. In early 2008, Envision Solar began development of its CleanCharge™ “Solar to Smart-Grid Integrated Electric Vehicle Charging System,” the first fully integrated, clean energy generation-to-grid/PHEV system.

Bright Automotive CEO John Waters also briefed members of the United States Congress, customers, and suppliers at the event. He addressed the nation’s need for clean, efficient vehicles as a key component in reducing pollution, ending dependence on foreign oil, and creating “green-collar” U.S. jobs. Waters explained what the featured companies are doing to help move the country toward a more secure and sustainable energy future.

Bright Automotive and Envision Solar will bring the IDEA and CleanCharge/Solar Tree® System to Stavanger, Norway May 13–16, 2009 for the “EVS24 Towards Zero Emission,” (www.evs24.org), a world congress and exhibition for electric, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. Participants from 40 countries will attend EVS24.

“We are proud to be a part of this consortium that is creating real solutions to reduce our dependence on foreign oil,” said Richard Lowenthal, CEO of Coulomb Technologies. “This Earth Day event showcases the technology, infrastructure and vision needed to make electric vehicles running on the cleanest of energy sources a reality.”

Axion CEO Tom Granville said, “Axion is delighted to have the opportunity to work on the CleanCharge/Solar Tree with industry leaders like Envision Solar and Bright Automotive. It serves to underscore the versatility of Axion’s PbC® product, whether the use is renewable energy storage or electric automotive.”

SAN DIEGO (September 2, 2009) – The Structural Engineers Association of San Diego (SEAOSD) recently honored three local firms with Excellence in Engineering awards for their creativity, innovation and efficiency in building design projects completed in the last year.

Arcon Engineers (www.arconengineers.com) received the award for its restoration of the Filanc Construction Headquarters in Escondido; Burkett & Wong Engineers (www.burkett-wong.com) for its alteration of the Ferring Pharmaceuticals Building in Sorrento Valley; and KPFF Consulting Engineers (www.kpff.com) for its construction design of the Hard Rock Hotel in Downtown San Diego.

Awards of merit were given to Arcon Engineers for the Elephant Exhibit at the Houston Zoo; DYK Incorporated (www.dyk.com) for the 1 Million Gallon Sky Ranch Reservoir in Santee; Curry Price Court (www.cpceng) for the Wharf at America’s Cup Harbor in Point Loma; and KPFF Consulting Engineers for the UCSD Solar Grove in La Jolla

These structural engineering awards are especially meaningful to the professionals in the area as they are awarded by a group of peers. This year, the three-expert panel members were: Zubaid Karim of Degenkolb, Jim Conley of Hope Engineering, and Mike Romanowski of SDSE.

The historic preservation of the Filanc Construction Headquarters, Escondido, which was the work of Arcon Engineers, involved the complete remodel and seismic retrofit of a dilapidated historical landmark into a modern office workplace. The building’s exterior was entirely returned to its original Art Deco finish, while the structure was upgraded to current code levels for lateral events.

Winning the award for the best retrofit/alteration was Burkett & Wong Engineer’s work on the Ferring Pharmaceuticals Building in Sorrento Valley. This biopharmaceutical research facility was transformed from an old, one-story tilt-up building into a modern, two-story structure featuring state-of-the-art labs, research offices, and a video conferencing room. The existing building was not conducive to lateral expansion and could not support additional loads; therefore, a separate structure now straddles the existing one.

KPFF Consulting Engineers’ work on the Hard Rock Hotel, Downtown San Diego, caught the judge’s attention for new construction. This project is a 315,000-square-foot, mixed-use development in the prestigious Gaslamp Quarter in Downtown San Diego. The project included a 13-story main tower, a four-story above grade podium structure, a two-level subterranean garage, and the integration of an existing historical structure, the Depot Building.

In the Special Use Structures category, Arcon Engineers won a Certificate of Merit for the Elephant Exhibit at the Houston, TX, Zoo. The Elephant Exhibit is the largest undertaking in the 85-year history of the Houston Zoo and involved the complete remodel and reconstruction of the existing elephant facility.

Another Certificate of Merit for Special Use Structures went to DYK Incorporated for the 1 Million Gallon Sky Ranch Reservoir, Santee. Water system circulation is a critical component in the planning and operating of the San Diego County water system. The 1 Million Gallon Sky Ranch Reservoir was the latest storage tank to be added to the existing 27 total reservoirs in the system.

The Wharf at America’s Cup Harbor project won Curry Price Court a Certificate of Merit for new construction. It is the continuation of the redevelopment of the bay front properties along Harbor Drive located in the Point Loma area of San Diego. The project consists of a redevelopment and reuse of the former Driscoll Marine boatyard. There are three new two-story buildings designed to maximize usable space by making the structure an architectural feature. KPFF Consulting Engineers took a Certificate of Merit award for sustainable design for The UCSD Solar Grove project, a joint venture between the architect, Envision Solar International and Borrego Solar, the solar provider. Each installed tree is capable of generating 18,000 kWh of clean energy per year, which is enough to power more than four single-family homes while providing shading for students and their cars. The grid-connected systems are capable of offsetting more than 730,000 pounds of carbon emissions on a yearly basis.
